Editing & Deleting Campaigns

After a campaign has been created, you may need to update its details, change the donation configuration, or remove a draft you no longer need. This page explains how to edit and delete campaigns.

Editing a Campaign

You can edit a campaign to update its title, appeal, media, donation amounts, and other configuration. Editing uses the same multi-step wizard that you used to create the campaign, with all existing values pre-filled.

Steps to Edit

  1. Navigate to the campaign's detail page by selecting it from the Donation Dashboard.
  2. Select the Edit button in the top-right area of the page.
  3. The campaign editor opens with the same 5-step wizard used during creation, pre-populated with the campaign's current values.
  4. Navigate through the steps and make your changes.
  5. Select Save when finished.
  6. You are returned to the campaign detail page with your changes applied.

Editing an Active Campaign

When you edit an active campaign that is already accepting donations:

  • Changes take effect immediately after saving.
  • The updated information is visible to donors right away on the public campaign page.
  • Existing donor data and transaction history are not affected.
  • If you change the target amount, the progress bar recalculates automatically.
caution

Be thoughtful about editing active campaigns that donors have already contributed to. Significant changes to the campaign's purpose or description after collecting donations may confuse donors. If you need to make major changes, consider posting a Campaign Update to explain the changes.

Editing a Draft Campaign

Editing a draft campaign has no external impact since drafts are not visible to donors. You can freely adjust any editable field without concern.

Deleting a Campaign

Only draft campaigns can be deleted. Active and closed campaigns cannot be deleted -- if you want to stop an active campaign, close it instead.

Steps to Delete a Draft Campaign

  1. Navigate to the draft campaign's detail page (find it on the Pending or Draft filter tab of the dashboard).
  2. Confirm the campaign status badge shows Draft.
  3. Select the Delete button.
  4. Confirm the deletion when prompted.
  5. The campaign is permanently removed from your dashboard.

What Happens When You Delete

  • The campaign is permanently removed from your Donation Dashboard.
  • The campaign will no longer appear under any tab.
  • This action cannot be undone.

Why You Cannot Delete Active or Closed Campaigns

Active and closed campaigns may have:

  • Donor records -- people who contributed need their transaction history preserved.
  • Financial data -- payment records and receipt information must be maintained.
  • Public links -- donors may have bookmarked or shared the campaign link.

If you no longer want an active campaign to accept donations, close it instead. The campaign and all its data will be preserved on the Closed tab for your records.
