Launching & Closing Campaigns
Every donation campaign moves through a lifecycle of statuses. This page explains how to take a draft campaign live, close an active campaign when it is finished, and reopen a closed campaign if you need to resume accepting donations.
Campaign Status Flow
Campaigns follow this status progression:
┌──────────┐
│ DRAFT │
└──┬───┬───┘

Go Live │ │ Delete

┌────────┐ (removed)
│ ACTIVE │

│ CLOSED │──── Reopen ────> ACTIVE
└────────┘
For campaigns created by talent users (members or supporters), an additional approval step exists before the campaign can go live. See Talent User Campaigns for the full approval workflow.
Launching a Draft Campaign
When your campaign is ready to accept donations, you launch it by changing its status from Draft to Active.
Steps to Launch
- Navigate to the campaign's detail page by selecting it from the Donation Dashboard.
- Confirm the campaign status badge shows Draft.
- Select the Go Live button in the top-right area of the page.
- The campaign status changes to Active immediately.
- A success message confirms: "Campaign Launched!"
- You are redirected back to the Donation Dashboard.
What Happens When You Launch
- The campaign status changes from
drafttoactive. - The campaign becomes visible on your organization's public profile (if applicable).
- The campaign's shareable link becomes functional -- donors can now visit and contribute.
- The campaign appears under the Active tab on the Donation Dashboard.
Make sure you have reviewed the campaign's details, media, and donation amounts before launching. While you can edit an active campaign, it is best to have everything finalized before going live.
Approving a Talent User Campaign
If a campaign was created by a talent user (a member or supporter), the Go Live button is replaced with an Approve button. The workflow is the same:
- Navigate to the talent-created campaign from the Pending tab on the dashboard.
- Review the campaign details thoroughly.
- Select the Approve button.
- The campaign goes live and the talent user is notified of the approval.
For the full talent campaign approval process, see Talent User Campaigns.
Closing an Active Campaign
When a campaign has reached its goal, the fundraising period has ended, or you no longer want to accept donations, you close the campaign.
Steps to Close
- Navigate to the active campaign's detail page.
- Confirm the campaign status badge shows Active.
- Select the Close Campaign button in the top-right area.
- A confirmation dialog appears asking: "Close Campaign?"
- The dialog explains: "This campaign will stop accepting donations. You can reopen it later if needed."
- Select Close Campaign to confirm, or Cancel to go back.
- A success message confirms: "Campaign closed successfully."
What Happens When You Close
- The campaign status changes from
activetoclosed. - The campaign stops accepting new donations -- the public donation page shows the campaign as closed.
- The campaign moves from the Active tab to the Closed tab on the dashboard.
- All existing donor data and transaction history is preserved.
- An entry is added to the campaign's update log recording the closure.
When to Close a Campaign
| Reason | Example |
|---|---|
| Goal reached | Your fundraising campaign hit its target amount |
| Campaign period ended | The planned fundraising window has passed |
| No longer needed | Circumstances changed and the campaign is no longer relevant |
| Replacing with a new campaign | You want to start a fresh campaign for a new phase or goal |
Closing a campaign is not permanent. If you need to resume accepting donations, you can reopen the campaign at any time.
Reopening a Closed Campaign

Steps to Reopen
- Navigate to the closed campaign's detail page (find it on the Closed tab of the dashboard).

closedback toactive. - The campaign resumes accepting donations -- the public donation page is active again.
