Payment Profile Setup

Before your organization can accept payments for events, memberships, or donations on FeatsClub, you need to connect a payment processor. This is your payment profile -- the bridge between FeatsClub and the bank account where you receive your money.

Setting up a payment profile is typically the first thing you do after creating your organization. Without one, any paid event tickets, membership fees, or donation campaigns you create will not be able to collect payments.

Why You Need a Payment Profile

A payment profile connects your FeatsClub organization to a payment processor so you can:

  • Sell event tickets -- Collect registration fees for ticketed events
  • Accept membership payments -- Charge membership fees when members sign up or renew
  • Receive donations -- Accept contributions through your donation campaigns
  • Process refunds -- Handle cancellations and refund requests

Without a payment profile, you can still create free events, open RSVPs, and manage your organization -- but you will not be able to collect any money through FeatsClub.

caution

You must complete your payment profile setup before creating any paid events, paid memberships, or donation campaigns. If you try to set a ticket price or membership fee without a connected payment profile, FeatsClub will prompt you to set one up first.

What Is Stripe Connect?

FeatsClub uses Stripe Connect to securely process payments. Here is what that means for you:

  • Your money goes directly to your own Stripe account. FeatsClub never holds your funds. When someone pays for your event, membership, or donation, the payment lands in your Stripe account.
  • You own your Stripe account. You can log into Stripe directly at dashboard.stripe.com to view transactions, manage disputes, download reports, and control your settings.
  • Security is handled by Stripe. All payment card data is processed by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure. FeatsClub never sees or stores credit card numbers.
  • FeatsClub's platform fee is deducted automatically. A small service charge is taken from each transaction to cover the cost of the platform (see Fees and Pricing below).
info

Stripe Connect uses a Standard Account model for FeatsClub organizations. This means you get full access to your Stripe dashboard with complete control over your account, your data, and your settings. This is the most transparent and feature-rich account type Stripe offers.

Two Ways to Connect Stripe

You have two options for connecting a Stripe account to your FeatsClub organization:

Option 1: Create a New Stripe Account

Best if you do not have a Stripe account yet. FeatsClub will redirect you to Stripe's onboarding form, where you create a brand-new account from scratch. Stripe will ask for your business details, personal identity verification, and bank account information. The process takes about 10-15 minutes.

Create a New Stripe Account →

Best if you already have a Stripe account. You authorize FeatsClub to connect to your existing Stripe account via OAuth. This takes just a few clicks -- log in to your Stripe account, authorize the connection, and you are done.

Link an Existing Stripe Account →

tip

Not sure which option to pick? If you have ever used Stripe before (for any website, app, or service), choose Link an Existing Account. If this is your first time using Stripe, choose Create a New Account.

Account Type: Standard

FeatsClub uses Stripe's Standard account type. Here is what that means for you:

FeatureWhat You Get
Full Stripe DashboardLog into dashboard.stripe.com anytime to see all your transactions, payouts, and analytics
Direct OwnershipYou own and control your Stripe account completely -- it is not tied to FeatsClub
Dispute ManagementHandle chargebacks and disputes directly in your Stripe dashboard
Detailed ReportingAccess Stripe's full suite of financial reports, tax documents, and export tools
Independent SettingsConfigure your own payout schedule, notification preferences, and team access
PortabilityIf you ever stop using FeatsClub, your Stripe account continues to work independently

How Payments Flow

When someone pays for your event, membership, or donation on FeatsClub, here is what happens:

  1. The attendee or donor enters their payment information on FeatsClub's checkout page (powered by Stripe).
  2. The payment goes directly to your Stripe account. The full payment amount lands in your Stripe balance.
  3. Stripe's processing fee is deducted from the payment (2.9% + $0.30 for cards, 0.8% for ACH bank transfers).
  4. FeatsClub's platform fee is charged separately. This covers the cost of using FeatsClub's platform.
  5. Stripe sends your earnings to your bank account on a regular payout schedule (weekly, every Monday by default).
info

With the "Pass charges to user" option, you can choose to have the processing fees added on top of the ticket price so that your organization receives the full amount. See How Fees Work below.

Key Concepts

Payment Profile

A payment profile is your connected Stripe account within FeatsClub. It stores your Stripe account ID, connection status, and configuration. You can view and manage your payment profiles from the Payment Profiles page in your dashboard.

Default Profile

If you have multiple payment profiles (for example, separate Stripe accounts for different programs), one must be designated as the default profile. The default profile is the one used for all new events, memberships, and donation campaigns unless you specify otherwise.

Platform Fee

The platform fee is FeatsClub's service charge on each transaction. This fee covers the cost of the payment infrastructure, event management tools, and FeatsClub's platform services. The default platform fee is approximately 3.5% of the transaction amount, though this may vary depending on your organization's fee tier.

Profile Status

Your payment profile has a status that tells you whether it is ready to accept payments:

StatusMeaningWhat to Do
Active (green)Your Stripe account is fully verified and ready to accept paymentsNothing -- you are all set
Pending (orange)Stripe needs additional information to complete verificationClick "Continue Setup" to provide the missing details
Not CreatedNo payment profile has been connected yetClick "Connect Stripe Account" to get started
Error (red)Something went wrong with the connectionTry reconnecting or contact support

How Fees Work

There are two types of fees on each transaction:

Stripe Processing Fees

These are charged by Stripe (not FeatsClub) for processing the payment:

Payment MethodFee
Credit/Debit Card2.9% + $0.30 per transaction
ACH Bank Transfer0.8% per transaction (capped at $5.00)

FeatsClub Platform Fee

This is FeatsClub's service charge. The default rate is approximately 3.5% per transaction, though the exact rate depends on your organization's fee tier. Some tiers use a fixed dollar amount per transaction instead of a percentage.

Who Pays the Fees?

You can choose who absorbs the processing fees:

OptionHow It WorksExample ($100 ticket)
Organization pays (default)Fees are deducted from the payment amount. The attendee pays the listed price.Attendee pays $100. You receive ~$93.60 after all fees.
Pass charges to userFees are added on top of the listed price. The attendee pays slightly more.Attendee pays ~$106.70. You receive ~$100.00.

You configure this option when setting up ticket pricing for events or membership fees.

Payouts

Stripe sends your accumulated earnings to your connected bank account on a regular schedule. The default payout schedule is weekly, every Monday. You can change this schedule in your Stripe dashboard at any time.

Where to Find Payment Profiles

You can access your payment profiles from two places:

  1. Dashboard → Payment Profiles -- Click "Payment Profiles" in the left sidebar
  2. Dashboard → Settings → Payment Profiles -- Navigate through Settings

Both routes take you to the same Payment Profiles page where you can view, connect, and manage your payment profiles.
