Link an Existing Stripe Account
If you already have a Stripe account -- whether from another website, another platform, or your own business -- you can connect it to FeatsClub in just a few clicks using OAuth. There is no need to create a new account or go through the full onboarding process again.
Before You Begin
Make sure the following are true before you start:
- You have an active Stripe account. Your Stripe account must be in good standing (not suspended, restricted, or closed).
- You know your Stripe login credentials. You will need to log in to Stripe during the connection process.
- Your Stripe account has completed verification. If your existing Stripe account still has pending verification requirements, complete those in your Stripe dashboard first.
Not sure if you have a Stripe account? Go to dashboard.stripe.com and try logging in. If you can access a dashboard, you have an existing account you can link.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Navigate to Payment Profiles
- Log in to your FeatsClub account and go to your organization dashboard.
- In the left sidebar, click Payment Profiles.
- Alternatively, go to Settings and then click Payment Profiles.
- You will see the Payment Profiles page.
Step 2: Click "Connect Stripe Account"
- Click the Connect Stripe Account button at the top of the page.
- A modal dialog opens with two connection options.
Step 3: Select "Connect Existing Account"
- In the modal, click the Connect Existing Account option (the OAuth option).
- Click the Connect with Stripe button.
- FeatsClub redirects you to Stripe's authorization page.
You are being redirected to Stripe's secure website (connect.stripe.com) to authorize the connection. This is a standard OAuth flow -- the same process used when connecting any service to Stripe.
Step 4: Log In to Stripe
- Stripe's authorization page loads in your browser.
- Enter your Stripe email address -- the email associated with your existing Stripe account.
- Enter your Stripe password.
- Click Sign In or Log In.
If you have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled on your Stripe account, you will be asked to enter a verification code after logging in. Check your authenticator app or phone for the code.
Step 5: Review Permissions and Authorize
After logging in, Stripe shows you the permissions that FeatsClub is requesting:
- Review the permissions list. FeatsClub requests access to process payments and manage transfers on your behalf. This is necessary for FeatsClub to route payments from your events, memberships, and donations to your Stripe account.
- Select which Stripe account to connect if you have multiple Stripe accounts. A dropdown will appear letting you choose the correct account.
- Click Connect or Authorize to grant FeatsClub access.
Authorizing FeatsClub does not give FeatsClub access to your Stripe balance, your existing customers, or your existing transactions. FeatsClub can only process new payments made through the FeatsClub platform and receive its platform fee from those transactions.
Step 6: Return to FeatsClub
After clicking Connect or Authorize, you are automatically redirected back to FeatsClub.
- Your existing Stripe account now appears as a connected payment profile on the Payment Profiles page.
- The profile should show Active (green badge) immediately, since your Stripe account was already verified.
If your profile shows Pending instead of Active after linking, it means your existing Stripe account has some verification requirements that Stripe did not complete previously. See Completing Pending Setup to resolve this.
Benefits of Linking an Existing Account
| Benefit | Details |
|---|---|
| Faster setup | No new identity verification or business information needed -- takes about 2-3 minutes total |
| Single Stripe dashboard | All your payments from FeatsClub and other platforms appear in one Stripe dashboard |
| Existing history preserved | Your Stripe transaction history, customer records, and reports remain intact |
| Consolidated payouts | Earnings from FeatsClub and your other connected services are deposited to the same bank account |
| Familiar interface | If you already know your way around Stripe's dashboard, there is nothing new to learn |
After Linking
Default Profile
If this is your first (or only) payment profile, it is automatically set as the default profile. All new paid events, memberships, and donation campaigns will use this Stripe account.
Start Accepting Payments
You can immediately:
- Create ticketed events with paid registration
- Set up paid memberships with membership fees
- Launch donation campaigns to accept contributions
Payouts Continue as Before
Your existing payout schedule in Stripe remains unchanged. Earnings from FeatsClub transactions are included in your regular Stripe payouts alongside any earnings from other platforms or websites you use with this Stripe account.
Troubleshooting
I do not see the authorization page
Make sure your browser is not blocking pop-ups or redirects. Try disabling any ad blockers temporarily. If the page still does not load, try using a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, or Safari).
I clicked "Cancel" on the Stripe page
If you canceled the authorization on Stripe's page, you are redirected back to FeatsClub without a connection. Simply click Connect Stripe Account again and go through the process. No changes were made to your Stripe account.
I have multiple Stripe accounts and connected the wrong one
If you linked the wrong Stripe account, you can disconnect it from the Payment Profiles page and then reconnect using the correct account. Go to your Payment Profiles, find the incorrect profile, and use the management options to remove it. Then repeat the connection process and select the correct Stripe account when prompted.
My profile shows "Pending" after linking
This means your existing Stripe account has outstanding verification requirements. This is uncommon for established accounts but can happen if Stripe has recently updated their compliance requirements. Go to Completing Pending Setup for instructions.
What's Next?
Your payment profile is connected and ready to use. Here are some suggested next steps:
- Create a ticketed event -- Set up your first paid event with ticket pricing
- Create a paid membership -- Set up membership fees for your organization
- Launch a donation campaign -- Start accepting donations from supporters
If your profile shows as "Pending," head to Completing Pending Setup to learn how to finish the verification process.
