Completing Pending Setup
If your payment profile shows a Pending status (orange badge), it means Stripe needs additional information or verification before your account can start accepting payments. This is normal and usually straightforward to resolve.
This guide explains why your profile might be pending, how to check what is needed, and how to complete the remaining requirements.
Why Is My Profile Pending?
A "Pending" status means Stripe's verification process is not yet complete. This can happen for several reasons:
| Reason | Details |
|---|---|
| Identity verification in progress | Stripe is still reviewing the identity documents or personal information you provided during onboarding |
| Additional documents needed | Stripe requires you to upload additional verification documents (such as a photo ID or proof of address) |
| Business verification needed | For companies and nonprofits, Stripe may need to verify your business registration, EIN, or articles of incorporation |
| Bank account verification | Your bank account may need to be verified through micro-deposits (Stripe sends two small deposits to your bank account and asks you to confirm the amounts) |
| Stripe compliance update | Stripe periodically updates their compliance requirements, and existing accounts may need to provide additional information |
A "Pending" status does not mean your application was rejected. It simply means Stripe needs a bit more from you before they can fully activate your account.
How to Check What Is Needed
Follow these steps to find out exactly what Stripe needs to complete your verification:
Step 1: Go to Payment Profiles
- Log in to your FeatsClub account and go to your organization dashboard.
- In the left sidebar, click Payment Profiles.
- Find the payment profile with the Pending (orange) status badge.
Step 2: Click "Continue Setup"
- Click the Continue Setup button next to your pending profile.
- You are redirected to Stripe's onboarding form, which will show you exactly what information or documents are still needed.
Step 3: Complete the Remaining Requirements
Stripe's form will highlight the sections that need your attention. Complete each one:
- Fill in any missing fields that Stripe has flagged.
- Upload any requested documents (see common requirements below).
- Verify any pending information (such as micro-deposit amounts).
- Click Submit when you have completed all the required sections.
Step 4: Return to FeatsClub
After submitting the remaining information on Stripe:
- You are redirected back to FeatsClub.
- Check your profile status on the Payment Profiles page.
- If all requirements are met, your status should update to Active (green).
- If Stripe still needs time to review your submission, the status may remain Pending temporarily.
Common Pending Requirements
Here are the most common things Stripe asks for during the verification process, along with what to do for each one:
Upload Government-Issued Photo ID
What Stripe needs: A clear photo or scan of a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID.
Accepted documents:
- Driver's license (front and back)
- Passport (photo page)
- State or national ID card (front and back)
How to submit:
- When redirected to Stripe, look for the "Identity Verification" or "Personal Information" section.
- Click the upload area or "Upload Document" button.
- Take a photo with your phone camera or upload a file from your computer.
- Make sure the image is clear, well-lit, and shows all four corners of the document.
For the best results, place your ID on a dark, flat surface and photograph it from directly above. Avoid shadows, glare, and reflections. The text on your ID should be clearly readable.
Provide Additional Business Documentation
What Stripe needs: Proof that your business or nonprofit is legitimately registered.
Commonly requested documents:
- Articles of incorporation
- Business registration certificate
- IRS determination letter (for nonprofits / 501(c)(3) organizations)
- Business license
- EIN confirmation letter from the IRS
How to submit:
- Find the "Business Verification" section on Stripe's form.
- Upload a PDF or clear image of the requested document.
Verify Your Bank Account
What Stripe needs: Confirmation that you own the bank account you provided.
How micro-deposit verification works:
- Stripe sends two small deposits (usually a few cents each) to your bank account.
- These deposits typically appear within 1-2 business days.
- When you see them, return to Stripe's verification form and enter the exact amounts.
- Stripe confirms the bank account is yours.
Micro-deposits can take up to 2 business days to appear in your bank account. Check your account statement or online banking for two small deposits from "Stripe" or "STRIPE VERIFICATION."
Confirm Business Details
What Stripe needs: Updated or additional information about your business.
Commonly requested details:
- Updated business address
- Business phone number
- Website URL or social media link
- Industry or business category
- Description of what your organization does
How Long Does Verification Take?
| Scenario | Typical Timeline |
|---|---|
| Identity document review | Usually instant to a few hours. Some cases may take up to 2-3 business days. |
| Business document review | 1-3 business days |
| Bank account micro-deposits | 1-2 business days for deposits to appear, then instant verification once you confirm the amounts |
| Compliance review | 1-5 business days for complex cases |
Most verifications are completed within 24 hours. If your verification is taking longer than 5 business days, contact Stripe support.
Checking for Status Updates
Your payment profile status updates automatically as Stripe completes verification. To check for the latest status:
- Go to your Payment Profiles page in the FeatsClub dashboard.
- Click the refresh button (if available) to fetch the latest status from Stripe.
- If the status has changed from Pending to Active, you are ready to accept payments.
You do not need to keep checking manually. FeatsClub syncs your Stripe account status periodically. If you want to check sooner, just visit the Payment Profiles page and the status will update.
What If There Is an Error?
If your profile status changes to Error (red badge) instead of Active, it usually means one of the following:
| Issue | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Document rejected | The document you uploaded was not accepted (blurry, expired, wrong type). Upload a new, clear document. |
| Information mismatch | The name or details you entered do not match your verification documents. Update your information to match exactly. |
| Unsupported business type | Stripe does not support your business type or industry in your region. Contact Stripe Support. |
| Account restricted | Stripe has placed a restriction on your account. Log in to your Stripe dashboard at dashboard.stripe.com for details. |
For all error cases:
- Click Continue Setup on the profile with the error status.
- Stripe will show you what went wrong and what you need to fix.
- Correct the issue and resubmit.
If you are unable to resolve the issue through Stripe's form, contact Stripe support directly at support.stripe.com.
While your payment profile is in Pending or Error status, you cannot accept payments through FeatsClub. Any paid events, memberships, or donation campaigns you create will not be able to process transactions until your profile status changes to Active.
While Your Profile Is Pending
Here is what you can and cannot do while waiting for your profile to become active:
| Action | Available? |
|---|---|
| Create free events, RSVPs, and sign-up events | Yes |
| Manage your organization, team, and settings | Yes |
| Create and manage clubs | Yes |
| Create ticketed events (paid) | Yes, but payment processing will not work until active |
| Accept membership payments | No -- payments will fail until active |
| Accept donations | No -- payments will fail until active |
| Create draft campaigns and events | Yes |
You can still prepare your paid events, memberships, and donation campaigns as drafts while waiting for verification. Save them as drafts, and then publish them as soon as your profile becomes active.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use FeatsClub while my profile is pending?
Yes. You can use all of FeatsClub's free features -- creating events, managing your organization, setting up clubs, and more. The only limitation is that you cannot process payments until your Stripe profile is active.
Can I speed up the verification process?
The best way to speed up verification is to provide all requested information as quickly and accurately as possible. Upload clear, high-quality images of your documents. Make sure the name on your ID matches the name you entered during setup. If Stripe asks for micro-deposits, check your bank account daily and confirm the amounts as soon as they appear.
Do I need to pay Stripe anything to set up an account?
No. Creating a Stripe account is completely free. Stripe only charges processing fees when you actually receive a payment (2.9% + $0.30 for cards, 0.8% for ACH). There are no monthly fees, setup fees, or hidden charges.
I completed everything on Stripe but my FeatsClub profile still shows Pending
It can take a few minutes for the status to sync between Stripe and FeatsClub. Refresh your Payment Profiles page. If the status has not updated after 30 minutes, try clicking Continue Setup -- if Stripe considers your account fully verified, it will redirect you back immediately and update the status.
Can I disconnect a pending profile and start over?
Yes. If you want to start fresh, you can remove the pending profile from your Payment Profiles page and connect a new or different Stripe account. Keep in mind that any partial Stripe account you created still exists -- you can log into it at dashboard.stripe.com or choose to link it as an existing account later.
What's Next?
Once your payment profile status changes to Active, you are ready to accept payments. Here are some suggested next steps:
- Create a ticketed event -- Set up your first paid event with ticket pricing
- Create a paid membership -- Set up membership fees for your organization
- Launch a donation campaign -- Start accepting donations from supporters
- Payment Profile Overview -- Review how fees and payouts work
