Membership Terms

A membership term defines the duration, billing cycle, and renewal behavior of your membership plan. It answers three fundamental questions for every membership you offer: When does it start? When does it end? How does the member pay?

Every membership plan in FeatsClub has exactly one term attached to it. The term controls how long the membership is valid, whether it renews automatically, and how the start and end dates are determined for each member who enrolls.

Why Terms Matter

Terms are the engine behind your membership's lifecycle. Without a properly configured term, FeatsClub would not know when to start a member's access, when to expire it, or when to charge for renewal. Getting your term right means:

  • Members know exactly what they are signing up for -- clear start dates, end dates, and renewal expectations.
  • Payments happen on schedule -- one-time charges at enrollment or automatic recurring billing at the right interval.
  • Expirations are handled automatically -- no manual tracking of who needs to renew and when.
  • Your organization stays organized -- consistent membership periods across all your members.

The Three Term Types

FeatsClub supports three distinct enrollment types, each designed for different use cases:

Term TypeHow It WorksBest For
Fixed DateAll members share the same start and end date set by your organizationSeasonal programs, academic years, annual memberships with a set calendar
Date of EnrollmentEach member's term starts from the day they sign upRolling memberships, gym passes, monthly subscriptions
LifetimeMembership never expires after a one-time paymentFounding members, alumni associations, one-time certifications

Terms Are Reusable

In FeatsClub, terms are created at the organization level and can be reused across multiple membership plans. For example, you might create an "Annual 2025" term and attach it to your Individual, Family, and Student membership plans. This keeps your term dates consistent and reduces setup work.
