Setting the Default Profile
The default profile is the Stripe account that FeatsClub automatically uses whenever you create a new paid event, membership, or donation campaign. If you have multiple payment profiles connected, you can choose which one serves as the default.
What the Default Profile Means
- Every new paid item you create (event, membership, donation) is automatically assigned the default profile for payment processing.
- Payments from customers and donors are collected through the default profile's Stripe account.
- There is always exactly one default profile at a time.
- If you have only one connected profile, it is the default automatically.
How to Change the Default Profile
- Open your Dashboard.
- Go to Settings in the sidebar.
- Select Payments (or Payment Profiles).
- Find the profile you want to make the new default.
- Click the "Set as Default" button on that profile's card.
- The profile is now marked with a "Default" badge, and all future paid items will use this profile.
Requirements
- Only profiles with an Active status (green badge) can be set as the default. Profiles that are still Pending or have errors cannot be used as the default because they are not yet able to process payments.
- You must have at least one Active profile to set a default.
If you need to switch your default but your new profile is still showing "Pending," complete the Stripe verification process first. Once the profile status changes to Active, you will be able to set it as the default.
What Happens to Existing Items
Changing the default profile only affects new items you create going forward.
| Scenario | Behavior |
|---|---|
| New event created after changing default | Uses the new default profile |
| Existing event created before the change | Keeps its original profile -- payments continue through the original Stripe account |
| New membership created after changing default | Uses the new default profile |
| Existing membership with active subscribers | Keeps its original profile -- ongoing payments are not disrupted |
| New donation campaign created after changing default | Uses the new default profile |
| Existing active donation campaign | Keeps its original profile |
This means you can safely switch your default profile without worrying about disrupting payments on items that are already live.
If you need to change the payment profile on a specific existing event or membership, that must be done individually from that item's settings -- not from the default profile setting.
