RSVP & Sign-up Events

RSVP and Sign-up events let you collect registrations and attendee information without requiring payment. Whether you need a simple headcount for a community meetup or a detailed registration form for a workshop, these event types give you the tools to manage responses effectively.

When to Use Each Type

Event TypeBest ForForm Required?Payment?
RSVPFree events where you need a headcount -- meetups, open houses, social gatheringsNo (optional)No
Sign-upEvents where you need detailed attendee information -- workshops, classes, volunteer drivesYes (mandatory)No
Choosing between RSVP and Sign-up

Use RSVP when you primarily need to know who is coming and how many. Use Sign-up when you need to collect specific information from each registrant, such as dietary preferences, skill levels, or emergency contacts. If you need to charge attendees, use a Ticketed event instead.

What You Can Do

Collect Responses

RSVP events let attendees confirm their attendance with a single action. The response count is displayed on your event detail page so you can track interest in real time.

Build Custom Registration Forms

Use the drag-and-drop form builder to create registration forms tailored to your event. Choose from preset fields that auto-fill from user profiles, or add custom fields like multiple choice questions, file uploads, and more.

Set Response Limits

Control how many people can register by setting a maximum response capacity. When the limit is reached, the event automatically shows as full to new visitors.

Separate Audience and Volunteer Intake

Events that need volunteers can use two separate forms -- one for general attendees and one for volunteers. Each form can collect different information relevant to the role.

  2. Set a response capacity if you want to limit how many people can register.
  3. Build a form (required for Sign-up, optional for RSVP) using the form builder.
  4. Publish your event and share the link with your audience.
tip

If you are not sure whether you need a form, start with an RSVP event. You can always attach a form to it later before publishing, or switch to a Sign-up event if your needs change during the draft stage.
